Tips for cleaning up after the holidays.

Cleaning up after the holidays can be a daunting task, but with a bit of planning and organization, it can be made much more manageable. Here are some of my tips on how to clean up after the holidays and which areas to focus on:

  1. Start with a plan, to identify the areas that need the most attention.

  2. Declutter your home, put out of sight any items that you no longer need to use or consider donating or disposing of items that you don’t need.

  3. Clean the living areas, these are the areas that we mostly use during the holidays.

  4. Deep clean the kitchen, which is often the heart of holiday activities, so it's likely to need extra attention. Clean appliances, wipe down countertops, sanitize the sink and disposal, and clean out the refrigerator. Don't forget to empty and clean out the trash and recycling bins.

  5. Tackle the bathroom, Deep clean the bathroom, including the toilet, sink, bathtub or shower, and mirrors. Replace any used or empty toiletries and restock essential supplies.

  6. Wash and store your Linens and fabrics

  7. Properly organize and store decorations, to prevent damage and make next year's setup easier, Consider using storage bins, labels

  8. Check for stains and spills, Inspect your carpets, upholstery, and other surfaces for any stains or spills that occurred during holiday gatherings. Treat any spots promptly to prevent them from setting in.
